How to Interpret Commercial Vehicle Event Data Recorders (EDRs)

Most commercial vehicles in use today have some form of event data recorder (EDR).  These EDRs monitor and record data on the databus of the vehicle, and often are capable of providing information about the kinematics of a vehicle before, during and after a major collision.

Understanding how to access, recover, and interpret these data is important to engineers and police involved in collision reconstruction, as well as fleet managers, attorneys, insurance companies and researchers seeking to prevent future accidents.

Audience:

This short course is designed for:

  • Police and Civil Accident Investigators
  • Engineers with Forensic Practice
  • Researchers Interested in the Application of Truck Event Data to Highway Safety
