Logs are one of the most widely accepted and common technical document on oil and gas wells.  Therefore, becoming familiar with their purpose, appliation, and structure is essential for anyone involved with the oil and gas industry.

  • Gain an understanding of the meaning of units of measurement.
  • Learn to identify curves and understand how they are generated.
  • Learn to recognize porosity in rocks from curve response and typical curve-pair signatures for hydrocarbon and water.
  • Learn from case histories of wells covering electric and sample logs, drill stem test, production tests, and core analysis.
  • Intermediate log interpretation concepts will be presented using documented case histories for several wells.
